Abstract

Relevance of the Study. The life and work of Ivan Karabits represents a significant amount of information, which over the past 17 years has become the basis of a wide range of musicological research. However, far from all the parameters of the composer's heritage have been studied.

The history of the world of art knows many cases where representatives of creative families show dynastic succession, and develop their talent in related fields. Similar situations are also encountered in Ukrainian culture, but they have not yet become the subject of a thorough study. That is why it is relevant to study the commonalities and differences between the representatives of three generations of talented cultural figures, the worthy followers of family traditions and heritage.

Main objective of the study. For the first time, the author of the article seeks to address the sphere of professional interests of the composer in connection with the history of the family through his film music.

Research methods include source study – to study print media that reflects the history of the Kopytsia-Karabits family, analytical – to study the work of Karabits through his film music, generalization method – to summarize the results of the study.

Conclusion. The study allows us to understand the contribution of members of the Kopytsia-Karabits family to Ukrainian and world culture. This contribution indicates a significant scale, deep national rootedness, and spiritual strength of the traditional mentality. Each of the five representatives of the family opened its notable page in the artistic and scientific fields, and paved its own path to the domestic cultural space, which distinguishes the multi-genre work of Ivan Karabits, in particular, his previously unexplored film music.
